The Wudang Taoist Wellness Academy (WTWA) is a peaceful retreat center located high in the Wudang Mountains, near the Purple Heaven Palace. It is the perfect location to study, practice and live the Tao. Like a shy maiden, the retreat is hidden among the forests and mountains, surrounded by green teas and colorful flowers, with white clouds seen floating now and then. Surrounded by nature and away from popular tourist attractions, WTWA is an ideal location for studying Taoist philosophy and wellness, and practicing the ancient arts of Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong, and Meditation.
Gu Shining is the director of Wudang Taoist Culture Centre (WTCC) and headmaster of the Wudang Taoist Wellness Academy (WTWA). Among the martial artists in Wudangshan area, he is one of the few who was born here, and perhaps the only one who can teach in perfect English. While most institutions focus primarily on movement teaching, Master Gu has been directing his academy to follow The Taoist Way: not only movement but also cultural exploration; not only Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and meditation, but also Acupuncture, Tuina, culinary art, calligraphy, Guqin and Mandarin.
Gu Shining's Chinese name is Gu Shiyi. Shining is his Taoist name as he is the 15th generation of Wudang Sanfeng Pai or sect, his Shifu (Fatherly Teacher) being Grandmaster Zhong Qingwei( Taoist name) or Zhong Yunlong.
Master Gu aims to spread the wisdom and wellness practices of Taoism, and to help all who wish to learn and explore deeper into the Taoist culture. He teaches primarily at the WTWA in the Wudang Mountains, but also teaches abroad when invited.
